Vedämmekö Jumalan itsemme tasolle * Do we draw God on our own level

Määritellessämme Jumalan kolmeksi persoonaksi... niin kuin kolminaisuusopin kannattajat tekevät... Jumala vedetään alas kuolevaisen ihmisen tasolle.

When we define God as three persons... like the Trinitarians do... we decrease
God on our own level.

Olen kirjoittanut jo aikaisemmenkin persoona-sanasta, mutta pieni kertaus lienee paikallaan.

I have already written about the word "person", but I think repetition makes good.

Originally the word "person" is Latin, from which it has been loaned when it's original meaning has been changed at the same time. Latin is not a Jewish language (like Hebrew and Aramaic), and therefore the word "person" or any of it's changed form doesn't occur in the scriptures of the Old Testament. However for instance in some English versions the word "person" appears even in the Old Testament.

The Latin word "person" meant at first A MASK actors used in theatrical performances. Sometimes a mask could be two-headed (diphus), when one and the same actor could have two roles; he only turned the mask around on his head. Therefore the word "person" was understood also to refer to the ROLE and later also the ACTOR itself. When the word "person" was loaned into French it got a vaster meaning, for from the eighteen century the word "person" meant any PEOPLE/PERSON in French.

Kun ottaa huomioon "person"-sanan synnyn ja lähtökohdan, sen etymologisen kaaren ja merkityksen muuttumiset sekä sanan varsin myöhäisen vakiintumisen nykyisin käytössä olevaan merkitykseen, tuntuu todella hataralta ja epämiellyttävältä määritellä kaikkeuden suurta ja mahtavaa Luojaa/Jumalaa tuollaisella epäraamatullisella sanalla!

When you take into account the origin of the word "person", it's etmology and it's quite late stabilization to it's modern meaning, I think it's a very shake, unpleasant and non-biblcal word to use when you define the mighty Creator/God!

Aina kun syntyy uusi kielellinen käsite/ilmaisu, on myös tarve etsiä sille vastine jokaisessa kielessä. Näin on käynyt myös latinalaisperäisen "person"-sanan kohdalla. Ellei se ole jossakin kielessä käyttökelpoinen lainasanana sellaisenaan tai hiukan muunneltuna (esim. suomessa "persoona"), se yritetään rinnastaa johonkin jo käytössä olevaan sanaan, joka sopii ilmaisemaan sen merkityksen.

When a new linguistic term/concept is formed, there is a need to translate it into every other language. This is what has happened even with the Latin word "person". If it's not straight useful as such or as some kind of variant (in Finnish "persoona"), it's expressed by some already known word suitable to explain it's meaning.

Hepreassa sanan "person"/"persoona"/"henkilö" vastine on אדם eli Adam/ihminen tai בן אדם eli ihmisen poika. Kun kolminaisuudessa sanotaan olevan kolme persoonaa, siinä on siis kolme ihmistä tai ihmisen poikaa. Tällä tavalla Jumala vedetään alas kuolevaisen ihmisen tasolle, tai kääntäen kuolevaisesta ihmisestä tehdään yhtä suuri kuin itse Jumala on. Näin toteutuu Käärmeen alkuperäinen valhe: "te tulette olemaan kuin Jumala."

In Hebrew the counterword of "person" is אדם or Adam/man or בן אדם or the son of man. When it's said that there are three persons in the Trinity, there are thus three men or three sons of man. In this way God is drawn on the level of mortal man, or inversely man is lifted up on God's level. This is how we make true the first lie of the Serpent:"you shall be like God."

Mistä sitten sana "person" on tullut esim. englanninkielisiin käännöksiin?
Esim. Mal. 1: 8/Webster:"And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, [is it] not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, [is it] not evil? offer it now to thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.

From where the word "person" has come for instance into the English translations? Example Mal. 1: 8/Webster: "And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, [is it] not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, [is it] not evil? offer it now to thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.

Joissakin englanninkielisissä käännöksissä esiintyy  "person"-sanan korvikkeena sana "face"/"faces". Esim. Mal. 1: 8/MKJV: "And now entreat the face of God, that He favor us. This has been by your hands, will He lift up your faces, says the LORD of hosts?"

In some English translations there is a word "face"/"faces". Example Mal. 1: 8/ MKJV: "And now entreat the face of God, that He favor us. This has been by your hands, will He lift up your faces, says the LORD of hosts?"

Sana "kasvot" esiintyy myös hepreassa tässä kyseisessä jakeessa (Mal. 1: 8):
וכי תגשון עור לזבח אין רע וכי תגישו פסח וחלה אין רע הקריבהו נא לפחתך הירצך או הישא פניך אמר יהוה צבאות׃

The word "face"/"faces" occurs even in the Hebrew text (Mal. 1: 8):
וכי תגשון עור לזבח אין רע וכי תגישו פסח וחלה אין רע הקריבהו נא לפחתך הירצך או הישא פניך אמר יהוה צבאות׃

Kyseisen jakeen käännös onnistuu kyllä ihan hyvin sekä ilman "persoona"-sanaa että ilman "kasvot"-sanaa. Esim. Mal. 1: 8/suom. 1933: "Ja kun te tuotte uhriksi sokean eläimen, niin se muka ei ole paha! Ja kun tuotte ontuvan ja sairaan, niin se muka ei ole paha! Vie se maaherrallesi: mielistyykö hän sinuun, ja onko hän sinulle suosiollinen? sanoo Herra Sebaot."
Esim. Mal. 1: 8/ TS1998: "And when you present the blind as a slaughtering, is it not evil? And when you present the lame and sick, is it not evil? Bring it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favourably?” said יהוה of hosts."

It's possible to translate this verse in question very well even without the word "person" (persoona) and the word "face"/"faces" (kasvot). Example Mal. 1: 8/Finnish 1933: "Ja kun te tuotte uhriksi sokean eläimen, niin se muka ei ole paha!

Uuden Testamentin teksteihin sana "persoona" on tullut kreikan kielen sanasta πρόσωπο (kasvot, ulkomuoto, pinta, henkilö). Ujuttamalla raamatun teksteihin latinasta kreikan kieleen lainattu "persoona"-sana on onnistuttu huijaamaan koko kristikuntaa uskomaan, että yksi Jumala on kolme persoonaa!

The word "person" has come into the texts of the New Testament from the Greek word πρόσωπο  (face,  habits, surface, person). When the Latin word "person" has been loaned into Greek and foisted into the texts of the New Testament , the whole Christianity has been cheated to believe that one God is three persons!

Ehjee ja Jah * Ehyeh and Yah

Kuten tiedämme hepreaa ja eräitä muita seemiläisiä kieliä on alunperin kirjoitettu ainoastaan konsonanttimerkeillä niin, että tietyt konsonantit ovat osoittaneet myös vokaaleja. Vasta masoreetit (700 - 1100 j.Kr.) kehittivät nykyisin käytössä olevat heprean vokaalit. Tämä seikka on pidettävä koko ajan mielessä, kun ollaan tekemisissä heprean kielen sanojen kanssa.

As we know Hebrew and some other Semitic languages have been originally written only by consonants and some of them meant also the marks of vowels. As late as 700 - 1100 A.D. the Masorets invented the vowels used nowadays. This is the fact we must remember always when we are dealing with Hebrew words.

Sana JAH (יה) tulee heprean konsonnteista Jod ja He. Yleensä tuon sanan/tavun sanotaan viittaavan sanaan Jahve/Jehova ja Tetragrammiin יהוה. On totta, että Tetragrammi alkaa noilla kahdella konsonantilla (heprean sanat luetaan oikealta vasemmalle), mutta niin alkaa moni muukin heprean kielen sana. Miten voimme olla varmoja siitä, että noiden kahden konsonantin muodostama sana/tavu viittaa juuri Tetragrammiin?

The word YAH (יה) is made of Yod and He. Generally it's said that this word/syllable refers to the word Yahweh/Jehovah and the Tetragrammaton יהוה. It is true that the Tetragrammaton begins with those two consonants (the Hebrew words are spelled from right to left), but even many more Hebrew words begin with those two consonants. How can we be sure that the combination of those two Hebrew consonants refer to the Tetragrammaton alone?

Sanassa EHJEE (אהיה) tuo sama kahden konsonantin yhdistelmä on sanan lopussa. On varsin selvää, että Jumala puhuu itsestään käyttäen sanaa אהיה (minä olen), jossa ensimmäinen konsonantti Alef (א) on yksikön ensimmäisen persoonan tunnus. Sen sijaan kun me ihmiset puhumme Jumalasta, meidän on syytä jättää tuo yksikön ensimmäisen persoonan  tunnus pois. Voimme käyttää tuosta pyhästä Jumalan Moosekselle ilmoittamasta nimestä (2. Moos. 3: 14) vain sen loppuosaa... joko היה (olla/joka on) tai יה (Jumala).

In the word EHYEH (אהיה) those two consonants are in the end of the word. It's quite clear that the word God uses of himself is אהיה (I am), where Alef (א) is the marking of the first person in singular. Instead when we are speaking of God, it's better to drop that marking (Alef) off. We can use only the rest of the holy name God told to Mose (Ex. 3: 14)... either היה (to be/ he who is) or יה (God).

Kun sana/tavu יה (Jah) liitetään heprean ylistää-verbiin, muodostuu sana הללויהּ (hallelujah) eli "ylistäkää Jumalaa". Hepreassa viimeisen He-kirjaimen sisällä on Mappiq eli piste, joka osoittaa, että He ääntyy konsonanttina, kun se vastaavassa paikassa on yleensä vokaalin pidentymä. Siis suomalaistenkin kannattaa lausua tuo sana loppu-h:n kanssa... hallelujah.

When the word/syllable יה is connected to the Hebrew verb meaning "praise", we get the word הללויהּ (hallelujah) or "praise God". In Hebrew there is a Mappiq or a dot inside the final-He meaning that that it must be uttered as consonant, when it usually in the same position makes a previous vowel longer. Therefore let's pronounce that word with the final-He... even in Finnish... hallelujah.

Mikä löytö! * What a find!

Eilen sapattina koin ihmeellisen johdatuksen raamatun tekstien kanssa. Valitessani aamulla facebookin jotakin sopivaa tervehdystä, minua sykähdytti eräs aamukasteinen kuva. Ajattelin liittää siihen jonkun sopivan raamatun tekstin. Sanal. 19: 12 tuntui oikein sopivalta, mutta teinkin siitä arvoituksen ja kirjoitin kyseisestä jakeesta vain sanat "... kuin kaste ruoholle"

I experienced a miraculous introduction with the Bible texts yesterday, on the Sabbath. I was choosing some nice greeting for Facebook and found a picture of a morning dew. I thought to add some appropriate Bible text on it. I liked Prov. 19: 12 and made a riddle of the text when I wrote only "... as dew upon the grass."

Eräs hyvin raamattua tunteva ystäväni antoi oikean vastauksen: "kuninkaan suosio" Sananlaskujen tekstin mukaan.

"Kuninkaan viha on kuin nuoren leijonan kiljunta, mutta hänen suosionsa on kuin kaste ruoholle."

One of my friends... a very "knowledgeable person... gave a right answer: "king's favor." according to Proverbs.

"The king's wrath [is] as the roaring of a lion; but his favor [is] as dew upon the grass."

Jäin sitten miettimään, mistä kuninkaasta lie kysymys. No, vastaushan on selvä jo miettimättäkin, sillä raamatun "punainen lankahan" on Jeesus. Mutta selatessani raamattuani törmäsin suoranaiseen taivaalliseen vastaukseen Hoos. 14: 6:ssa.

"Minä olen oleva Israelille kuin kaste, se on kukoistava kuin lilja ja juurtuva syvälle kuin Libanon."

I was ponding then what king is in question. Of course the answer is clear even without thinking, because Jesus is "the red ribbon" throughout  the Bible. But when I was paging my Bible I found a real heavenly answer in Hos. 14: 6... which is in English version Hos. 14: 5

"I will be as the dew to Israel: he shall grow as the lily and cast forth his roots as Lebanon."

Koin äärimmäisen suuren yllätyksen huomatessani, että tuo Hoosean jae on yksi löytämistäni Ehjee-teksteistä! Siis: MINÄ OLEN Israelille kuin kaste...

I was deeply surprised when I noticed that this verse is one of the Ehyeh-texts I have found. Thus: I AM to Israel as the dew...

Tarkistin asian vielä kahdesta hepreankielisestä raamatusta.

I looked over the text even in two Hebrew Bibles.

Sen lisäksi tarkistin asian vielä MacSwordiltä. Siellä kyseinen jae on 14: 5, mutta sanasta sanaan täsmälleen sama teksti.

Moreover I checked it in MacSword. This verse is there Hos. 14: 5 but precisely the same text.

אהיה כטל לישראל יפרח כשושנה ויך שרשיו כלבנון׃

EHJEE on Israelille kuin kaste, ja sen vaikutuksesta Jumalan lapset kukoistavat kuin lilja ja juurtuvat syvälle kuin Libanon. Ylistys Ehjeelle!

EHYEH is to as a dew to Israel, and it makes God's children flourish as the lily and is rooting in the deep as Lebanon. Praise to Ehyeh!

Sapatti on pyhä päivä * Sabbath is the holy day

Suomenkielisissä raamatunkäännöksissä näkyy totuuden kiertämisyritys Jes. 58: 13:n kohdalla. Lepopäiväkiista on jättänyt oman leimansa tämän jakeen käännöksiin. Heprean kielen sanat יום קדש (jom qodesh) merkitsee kiistattomasti "pyhä päivä".

In the Finnish Bible versions you'll find an attempt to evade the truth in Isa. 58: 13. Dispute over the Sabbath day stigmatizes the translations of this verse. The Hebrew words יום קדש (jom qodesh) mean undeniably "holy day".

Ilo, riemu on hepreaksi שםחה (simcha), ja kunnia, arvokkuus, tärkeys on כבוד (kavod), mutta pyhä paikka, pyhä esine, Jumalan pyhyys, pyhäkkö on קדש (qodesh). Simcha ja kavod ovat adjektiiveja, mutta qodesh on maskuliinisukuinen substantiivi. Iloa vastaava sana hepreankielisessä tekstissä on ענג (oneg)

Delight, joy is in Hebrew שםחה (simcha), and glory, honour is כבוד (kavod), but a holy place , a holy thing, God's holiness, a sanctuary is קדש (qodesh). Simcha and kavod are adjectives but qodesh is substantive in masculine. The corresponding word for "delight" in the Hebrew text is ענג (oneg).

Voimme kyllä vallan mainiosti luonnehtia sapattia sanalla "ilopäivä", sillä onhan se annettu "ihmistä varten". Samoin voimme kuvailla sapattia sanoilla "kunnian päivä", sillä onhan sapatti Luojan kunnia. Mutta eikö raamatunkäännösten pitäisi seurata alkutekstiä mahdollisimman sanatarkasti, jos se vain on mahdollista. Eikä tässä tekstissä ole edes mitään tulkintavaikeuksia! Joten tällainen kiertely tuntuu minusta varsin kummalliselta.

Admittedly we can describe the Sabbath by the word "delight", for it has surely been made for man. Also we can say that the Sabbath is "the day of glory", for it really is the Creator's glory. But I think that the translations of the Bible should be as verbatim as possible. And this text has no difficulties in reading! Therefore I'm wondering this kind of tergiversations.

Jumala asetti sapatin oman luomistyönsä muistoksi ihmistä varten. Mutta vain oikeassa paikassaan sapatti korottaa Jumalan kunniaa. Tätä asiaa ihmisen lienee vaikea muistaa. Syyttäkö lepopäiväkäsky alkaa sanalla "muista"!

God set Sabbath to be the commemoration of creation and it's been set for man. But only in the right position/place/order Sabbath will increase the glory of God. Maybe people find it difficult to remember this thing. Is it any wonder that the fourth commandment begins with the word "remember"!

Samaa seikkaa korostaa myös Johanneksen Ilmestyskirjan ensimmäinen enkeli huutaessaan suurella äänellä keskitaivaalla: "Peljätkää Jumalaa ja antakaa hänelle kunnia, sillä hänen tuomionsa hetki on tullut, ja kumartakaa häntä, joka on tehnyt taivaan ja maan ja meren ja vetten lähteet" (Ilm. 14: 7).

Even John emphasizes the same thing in the message of Revelation when the first angel is saying with a loud voice:"Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters" (Rev. 14: 7).

Kauneimmatkaan sävelet ja juhlallisimmatkaan seremoniat väärin valittuna päivänä eivät ole Jumalan sapattikäskyn täyttämistä. Oikean lepopäivän korottaminen on kunnian uhraamista Jumalalle... universumin Luojalle.

Not even the sweetest tunes nor the most ceremonial worship in a wrong day fulfill God's Sabbath commandment. To honor God... the Creator of the universe... is to raise up the right rest day.

Sanasta syntynyt * Born from the Word

" For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee: for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: wonderful [are] thy works; and [that] my soul well knoweth. My substance was not hid from thee when I was made in secret, [and] curiously formed in the lowest parts of the earth. Thy eyes saw my substance, yet being imperfect; and in thy book all [my members] were written, [which] in continuance were fashioned, when [as yet there was] none of them" (Ps. 139: 13 - 16).

Vastasyntynyt lapsi herättää aina suurta hämmästystä ja ihastusta. Tuntuu suorastaan käsittämättömältä, että vauva on voinut rakentua kaikkine yksityiskohtineen äidin kohdussa täysin näkymättömissä. Kuitenkin niin se aina tapahtuu. Vanhemmat eivät pysty kovinkaan paljon vaikuttamaan siihen seikkaan, millainen persoona kulloinkin tähän maailmaan syntyy. Jokainen syntymä... niin ihmisen kuin eläimenkin... noudattaa Jumalan luomissanoja, jotka on lausuttu jo tuhansia vuosia sitten.

A newborn baby awakes always great wonder and admiration. It seems almost unbelievable that such a wonder with all it's details is able to be created invisibly in mother's womb. But so it happens always. The parents can hardly determine what kind a person shall come to this world. Every birth... of people and animals... obeys God's creative words uttered already  thousands of years ago.

Ylläoleva psalmiteksti tulee yleensä mieleeni katsoessani uutta ihmisen alkua, mutta äskettäin se avautui minulle aivan uudella tavalla. Tajusin, että tämäkin teksti puhuu ennen kaikkea Jeesuksesta, sillä häntä koskevat tekstit kulkevat kuin punaisena lankana läpi raamatun.

Usually I can remember this psalm every time when I'm watching a new baby, but recently the text was opened to me totally in a new way. I realized that even this text is primarily telling about Jesus, for all the texts concerning him are like a red ribbon throughout the Bible.

Jeesuksen genotyyppi (vanhemmilta peritty kaikkien geenimuotojen kokonaisuus) poikkeaa oleellisesti kaikista muista ihmisistä. Meidän lailla Jeesus sai Mirjam-äidiltään 23 kromosomia, jotka liittävät hänet kuningas Daavidin sukuun. Jokainen ihminen saa myös isältään 23 kromosomia, mutta Jeesuksen kohdalla niitä vastasi Jumalan Sana.

The genotype of Jesus is essentially different from all other people. Our way Jesus got 23 chromosomes from his mother Miriam, and they are joining him to the family of the king David. Every people gets also 23 chromosomes from his father, but in Jesus' case they were replaced by God's Word.

Mirjamin raskaus käynnistyi poikkeuksellisella tavalla. Oleellista on se, että jo Adamille ja Eevalle annettu lupaus sai siinä täyttymyksensä.

The pregnancy of Miriam began exceptionally. The most essential thing is that the promise given once to Adam and Eve was fulfilled in it.

Mirjamin kohdussa tapahtuva "vesan" kasvu toteutui niiden ajatusten mukaan, jotka Jumala oli avoitellut jo ennen luomista hänen suunnitellessaan ihmiskunnan pelastusta. Ne ajatukset takasivat Jumalan mielenmukaisen yksilön syntymän.

The promised "Branch" was growing in Miriam's womb according to God's thoughts, which He had already before the creation when he planned our salvation. Those thoughts ensured the birth of the person who shall perfectly follow God's will.

Psalmista jatkaakin kuvaustaan seuraavin sanoin: "Mutta kuinka kalliit ovat minulle sinun ajatuksesi, Jumala, kuinka suuri on niitten luku!" (Ps. 139: 17)

Look the next verse in the Psalm 139: "How precious also are thy thoughts to me, O God! how great is the sum of them!"

Jumala luomisvoima on SANASSA, ja SANA ratkaisee kaiken. Jumala ei tarvitse kuvia, merkkejä, symboleita, rituaaleja yms. Sellaiset  kuuluvat pakanuuteen.

God's creative power is in his WORD, and the WORD shall judge everything. God doesn't need any pictures, signs, symbols, rituals etc. All they belong to the paganism.

Jumalan ilmaisi itsensä selkeällä sanalla "OLEN" hepreaksi אהיה EHJEE. Mutta Jahve ei ole edes sana, sillä יהוה on tetragrammi, jonka merkitys on täysin epämääräinen ja kyseenalainen, ja "Jahve" on vain eräs tapa lausua tetragrammi. Oppikaamme rakastamaan Jumalan selkeitä sanojen!

God introduced himself with a clear word "I AM", in Hebrew אהיה Ehyeh. But Yahweh is not a word at all, for יהוה is the Tetragrammaton, which meaning is totally uncertain and questionable, and "Yahweh" is only one way to utter the Tetragrammaton. Let's learn to love God's clear words!

Rivien välistä * Between the lines

Nykyinen evoluution nimiin vannova sekulaari maailma ei jaksa enää uskoa todeksi raamatun vedenpaisumuskertomusta. Kuulostaahan koko juttu täysin absurdilta ja mahdottomalta! Ettäkö kenties miljoonista maapallon ihmisistä vain kahdeksan olisi jäänyt henkiin, ja he olisivat  seilanneet suurimassa rajuilmassa ja globaalissa myrskyssä eläinten kanssa puisessa arkissa... mahdotonta!

The modern secular world, which is swearing in the name of the evolution, doesn't believe any more in the story of the Flood. It sounds totally absurd and impossible, doesn't it! Only eight people from millions   were saved and they were sailing with animals in a wooden ark through the most furious storm and global tempest... just impossible!

Uskoo ken uskoo! Mutta merkillistä on se tosiseikka, että raamatun vedenpaisumuskertomusta muistuttavia myyttisiä kertomuksia tunnetaan maailman kaikissa kulttuureissa.

He believes who believes! But the curious thing is the fact that in every culture of the world has some story reminding the biblical story of the Flood.

Kaikista myyttisistä kertomuksista meille tutuin lienee Kalevalan Väinämöinen. Tuo VeenEmoinen saattaa hyvinkin vastata vetten yli soudellutta Nooaa, sillä kerrotaanhan Väinämöisestä mm. "teki tiiolle venettä" ja rakensi sellaisen "kalliolle", "kynti meret", "kaivoi kalahauat", "mylleröitti mäet", "syvensi syvärit" ja "loi kokoon vuoret". Eikö kaikkea tuollaista tapahtunut nimenomaan vedenpaisumuksessa!

Maybe the most familiar mythic story for us is Väinämöinen in Kalevala. It is possible that Väinämöinen (VeenEmoinen = mother of water) is equivalent to Noah, who sailed over the waters, for it's said of Väinämöinen for example: built his vessel on a rock, ploughed the seas, dug the hiding places of the fishes, rummaged the hills, made deeper the grooves, put together the mountains. Isn't this what definitely happened during the Flood!

Toinen tunnettu vedenpaisumuskertomus on Gilgamesh-eeppos, jonka kerronta muistuttaa vahvasti Genesiksen vedenpaisumuskertomusta. Kansanrunouden ja myyttien (kr. mythos = puhe, saarna, esitelmä, kertomus) lisäksi muinaista maailmaa kohdanneesta tuhosta todistaa myös esim. kiinan kielen arkkia tarkoittava sana.

Another well-known story of the Flood is Gilgamesh, which reminds very much the story of Genesis. Not only folk poetry and myths (Greek mythos = speech, sermon, presentation, story) but also for example a Chinese word meaning ark proves the global disaster in the ancient world.

Tämä kiinalainen kirjoitusmerkki koostuu kolmesta osasta, jotka ovat: kahdeksan (ylhäällä oikealla), suu (alhaalla oikealla) ja astia/laiva (vasemmalla). Arkki = kahdeksan suuta laivassa.
Todellakin vain kahdeksan ihmistä oli syömässä arkin ruokavarastoja!

This Chinese writing mark is made of three parts, which are: eight (the upper right), mouth (the lower right) and vessel (left). An ark = eight mouths in a vessel. Indeed there were eight people eating the food stuffs in the ark!

Mutta olisiko maailman rankin luonnonkatastrofi ollut pelkkää leikkiä Nooalle? Voitaisiinko hänen merimatkastaan sanoa niin kuin Väinämöisestä: "laski laulellen vesiä, ilon lyöden lainehia"?

Tämä kysymys sai vastauksen merkillisellä tavalla kääntäessäni vedenpaisumuskertomusta.

But could it be that the hardest disaster in the world were pure play for Noah? Could it be possible to say of Noah and his trip over the waters like about Väinämöinen: he was singing while sailing, playing while rowing? This question got an answer in a strangely way when I was translating the story of the Flood.

1. Moos. 7: 17

Gen. 7: 17

ויהי המבול ארבעים יום על הארץ וירבו המים וישאו את התבה ותרם מעל הארץ׃

Verbi שא merkitsee kantaa, nostaa, kärsiä, kestää, sietää, antaa anteeksi, vihkiä,
ja verbi תרם merkitsee lahjoittaa, antaa, avustaa, tukea.

The verb שא means carry, lift, bear, endure, suffer, forgive, marry and the verb תרם means donate, contribute.

Näitä verbejä käytetään kuvaamaan veden nostavaa ja suojelevaa vaikutusta arkkiin nähden. Vesi kohotti arkin ylös ja kantoi sitä niin, ettei se törmännyt maaston kohoumiin.

These verbs are used to describe how the water lifted and protected the ark. The water raised the ark up and carried it so that the ark didn't crash against the high places of the earth.

Kun vielä huomioidaan, että vettä tarkoittava sana מים on maskuliinissa, ja arkkia tarkoittava sana תבה on feminiinissä, silmien eteen rakentuu romanttinen kuva sulhasesta, joka kantaa hellästi morsiantaan, jonka sisällä on elämän siemen. Käytännössä juuri näin Jumala varjeli arkissa sekä ihmissiemenen että eläinkunnan siemenen ja ennen kaikkea luvatun "Vaimon Siemenen".

If we pay attention to the fact that the word מים meaning water is in masculine and the word תבה meaning ark is in feminine, a romantic pic rises before us of a bridegroom carrying gently his fiancée having the seed of life inside. Practically in the ark God protected both the seed of people and the seed of animals and before all the promised "Seed of Woman".

Selkeyttä arameasta * Clarity from Aramaic

Ystäväni T. L., joka osaa arameaa, lähetti minulle kuluneella viikolla kaksi raamatunkohtaa, joissa aramean kieli selkeyttää lukutapaa. Toinen teksteistä on Matt. 24: 34.

My friend T. L., who is talented in Aramaic, send me this week two Bible texts with Aramaic reading. One text is Matthew 24: 34.

Kyseisessä jakeessa sana "sukupolvi" on aiheuttanut monelle tutkijalle päänvaivaa.

There is one problematic word "generation". There is no one of Jesus's or Matthew's contemporaries living still today. I found an explanation of some preacher to this word on the margin of my oldest Bible. He had dared to change the word "generation" (sukupolvi) to "domain" / "family" (sukukunta) referring  to the Jews. Although those two words have the same beginning in Finnish they are very different in Hebrew. I don't think that such Bible reading would please God.

Mielestäni aivan yhtä kaukaa haettua on sekin tulkinta, jossa pitäydytään kyllä sanassa "sukupolvi", mutta muodostetaan siitä sukupolvien ketju ja ryhdytään laskemaan vuosia esim. Israelin valtion perustamisvuodesta samaan tapaan, kuin juutalaiset laskivat ennustettuja 70 vuotta Babylonin pakkosiirtolaisuudessa. Mikään Jeesuksen sana Matteuksen 24. luvussa ei tee oikeutta tällaiselle mielivaltaisuudelle.

I think that as worse reading is to make a chain of "generations" and begin to count years for example from the foundation year of Israel and to measure the time like the Jews in the exile of Babylon. Jesus didn't give any right for this kind of arbitrariness.

Mutta aramean kieli tarjoaa loistavan ratkaisun tähän ongelmaan. Tekstissä esiintyvä sana on שרבתא. Jos sanan vokaalit ovat a ja e, sana on SHARBETHA, joka merkitsee "sukupolvi", mutta jos vokaalit ovatkin e ja a, sana on SHREBTHA eli kuumuus, auringon polte/paahde.

But Aramaic gives a splendid answer to this problem. The word in this text is שרבתא. If the vowels are a and e, the word is SHARBETHA meaning "generation", but if they are e and a, the word is SHREBTHA meaning heat, hotness/burning of the sun.

Auringon paahde sopii tähän asiayhteyteen vallan mainiosti, sillä jo jakeessa 29 puhutaan auringosta ja auringon pimenemisestä. Siis aurinko ei pimene (24: 29), ennen kuin kaikki ennustettu on tapahtunut (24: 34), VAAN AURINKO PAAHTAA LOPPUUN SAAKKA ja pimenee vasta sitten, kun kaikki ennustettu on tapahtunut.

The hotness of the sun is appropriate in this context, for the sun/darkened sun is mentioned already in the verse 29. Therefore the sun will not be darkened (24: 29) before "all these things be fulfilled" (24: 34), BUT THE SUN WILL BURN UNTILL THE END and will be darkened after everything has happened.
